An online programme with local clinical work
South Alabama's RN-to-BSN pathway is designed for registered nurses who already hold a current licence, taught entirely online, and structured as a flexible option for people who are working. The coursework travels with you. The clinical component does not.
That split is what makes the placement its own problem. You can study from anywhere, but the practical work has to happen somewhere real, with a supervising nurse, in a setting the programme will accept, and typically within the state where you hold your licence.
Settle the licensure question first
Where you are licensed generally governs where you can complete clinical work. If you hold a compact licence, or hold licences in more than one state, that widens your options; if you have recently moved, it can narrow them sharply. Establish this before you start approaching sites, because it determines the entire search radius.
What to confirm with the College of Nursing
Requirements for the clinical component, including how many hours it carries, who is accepted as a supervising nurse and which settings qualify, are not published in the sources we consulted.
